Homeward Bound... Hopefully

We are packed and ready to go. We are almost discharged. Ellie is dressed up and looking beautiful for her first trip in the Texas sun.
Will has practiced his swaddling technique at home with his pirates and blankee. He is anxious to help feed his baby sister. I've pumped extra milk so that he can "top her off" after a feeding today - ALL BY HIMSELF - as he has demanded strongly requested.
We are ready to have a whole weekend ahead of us to be a family of 4, to see some visiting friends, to spend time together prior to starting Ellie's intensive doctors' appointments, therapies, and treatments at 8 am Monday morning.

And yet, we are not discharged.

We are sitting in our hospital room waiting.
A doctor decided this morning that Ellie should not ride in a regular car seat. It seems Ellie's joints are more severely affected than we originally thought. It seems she may have issues with her hip, her neck, and her spine.
We are overwhelmed.
The doctor wants her in a specialized adaptive car seat.
We knew there would be adaptive medical equipment in our future with Ellie... we just didn't know it would be this soon. Reality began to hit hard this morning.
We are in one of the largest metroplexes in our nation and yet we can't find a single store with the specialized car bed in stock.
We're waiting to see if our regular seat will work just to get her home today and then we can order the special one.

Yahoo. The nurse finally found a car bed for Ells. And, conveniently, it is located here in our hospital. (A friend in Waco also found one for us earlier when we couldn't locate any here in Dallas at various stores- she was going to get it & drive it to us today - bless her!)

So we have found one.
And yet, we're still here.
Now we are trying to get our insurance company to cover the cost since it is for medical purposes.
Fun times.
Reality again.

Hopefully we'll be headed home soon with our girl.

And I plan on posting some "pretty in pink" pictures soon!
